A Foodies Guide to the Best Restaurants & Cheap Eats in Bondi Beach, Australia

Sydney is a bustling metropolitan city hosting stunning beaches, a vibrant food scene and some of Australia’s most well-recognised landmarks. No trip to Australia would be complete without taking a visit to one of its most popular spots, Bondi Beach. Bondi sits nested within the centre of the predominantly residential Eastern Suburbs and is a unique blend of tourists, international working visitors and local families bringing with it a buzz and plenty of exciting restaurants to choose from. I lived in Bondi for a year so really did get to try and taste all the best food spots worth a visit.

Speedos - The dishes are Speedos are playful and vibrant with towering rainbow pancakes, bubblegum lattes and blue smoothie bowls complete with edible shells and a beach umbrella. This is a touristy spot but definitely the place to go for a fun occasion with views over the beach, plus if you go on your birthday with ID you eat for free!

Dairy - The best cookie you will ever eat. I shall just leave it at that.

Milky Lane - The number one place to go if you want to overindulge. Milky Lane is known for its freakshakes, over-the-top burgers and loaded fries; this place tends to pack out during the day with tourists staying in the CBD but is pretty chill in the evening.

Bills - Time spent in Bondi, or Australia, wouldn't be complete without several brunches. With mid-century modern interiors and a popular spot for Sydney influencers Bills has your classic Aussie menu with fresh and unique ingredients that make it one of the best places around. I would recommend the tea-smoked salmon and a Matcha latte.

Soy Japanese - A great alternative sushi spot if you are looking for somewhere a little cheaper than Raw Bar and a great take-away option. It has all your usual sashimi plates, tempura bits and maki rolls with eat-in and takeaway options.

Drinks

Mama Saan - The ideal place to start the weekend with some live music and a cocktail. The food is Asian fusion with darkly lit cosy corners, quirky interiors and bottomless lunches available.

Hotel Ravesis - One of the few hotels in Bondi Hotel Ravesis can get pretty lively if you stick around past dinner. There is bar and dining seating available which is the same as upstairs with the addition of a fairy-light-lit balcony overlooking the promenade and beach.

North Bondi RSL Club - The best place to go for a relaxed drink with a view of the beach. The RSL was set up in 1916 as a members club to support veterans and their families but also welcome nonmembers across Australia. Their menu has a pub feel to it and is generally a great place for a cheap eat and a beer.

I’m new to the world of travel blogging with more posts coming soon. In the meantime get to know me!
